I stowed away on the Challenger when i was a kid, in a failed attempt to win the affection of a young robot named sarah. Waiting in the lightless cargo bay throughout the interminable pre-launch inspections, i made the acquaintance of a severe Turkish magician who informed me he was to be ejected into the sun shortly after the placement of an ambiguously valuable communications satellite. I was a bit jittery, unaccustomed as i was to lawbreaking (i wasn't sure what laws i was breaking, but i was sure they were important ones), and i didn't appreciate the volume and tone of his complaint. To quiet him, i removed the loops of chain that bound him, and in gratitude he saved my life when the shuttle disintegrated many thousands of feet from the ground. I don't see him much anymore, but he faithfully sends postcards from places like Cimerra and Urkutsk, wherever his occupation leads him.
